1985

A poem by the artist's mother, originally published in Spelman College's student journal, Aunt Chloe, formerly called Focus.

“You’re a pro. Have you done this before, Claire? If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were a trick-or-treat veteran!”

Claire Mooney is a librarian and archivist based in Brooklyn, NY. Of these pieces, Mooney writes: “For me, this assemblage of images is a reminder that my parental figures are at once enigmatic and obvious. Some themes I think I'm working in include: the iconography of motherhood, the opacity of parenthood and family rearing, and sentimentality.”
