AHALIA PERSAUD
Ahalia Persaud is an Indo-Guyanese writer born in Queens and raised in Brooklyn whose work explores relationship dynamics, identity and diaspora politics. She was in the 2025 cohort of SOUNDTYPE Music Writers Residency at Asian Arts Initiative. Her practice has been supported by other workshops and organizations from the Lewis Latimer House Museum, NY Writers Coalition, Sackett Street Writers.
Ahalia is currently working as an arts administrator, community advocate and her family’s archivist. If she’s not blasting music through her car stereo, she’s reading a book while riding the MTA. She is an MFA writing school dropout.
