COREY DE’JUAN SHERRARD, JR.
Corey De’Juan Sherrard Jr (born 1996, Houston, TX) engineers a developing system for composing songs and generating objects that respond to the deficit of black radical propaganda within a world culture. He is a School for Poetic Computation alum and graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in Digital Media in 2020. Sherrard showed his first solo exhibition Songbook for Black Constellations at Sanman Studios in 2023 and that exhibition went on to show at Sabine Street Studios soon after. Sherrard received the Jones Artist Award from Weingarten Art Group in 2023 and exhibited his solo exhibition Songbook for Black Constellations, for Trio at the Houston Endowment. He showed in the East Austin Studio Tour group exhibition Crossroads, curated by Jonathan Paul Jackson, and at the Once 2023 Emerging Artists group exhibition at Cleve Carney Museum of Art. Sherrard was most recently selected for the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center’s Small Black Museum Residency Project (Vol. 3). He spins Jazz at Rice University’s KTRU-LP 96.1 FM through his weekly radio show STEAM and consults at the Kinder High School for Performing and Visual Arts where he teaches Sound Art.
